NPA responds to Proclamation 1017 with at least seven offensives February 25.

Philippines -- The New People's Army launched at least seven tactical offensives all in one day in response to a directive from the Communist Party of the Philippines Central Committee to intensify tactical offensives in face of the declaration of Proclamation 1017.

NPA Red fighters launched harassment operations against reactionary armed forces at Tagbayani, Sison, Surigao del Norte; in Cabongbongan, Surigao City; in Coleto, Bislig City; in Kabantaw Rosario, Agusan del Sur; in San Pedro, Lianga and San Isidro, Marihatag both in Surigao del Sur.

A day earlier, two AFP soldiers were killed and another was wounded when NPA guerrillas ambushed the PNP Provincial Mobile Group headed by Agusan del Norte Provincial Director Col. Yordan at around 6:20pm and later in a harassment operation against 30th IBPA troops.

In a statement, CPP spokesman Gregorio "Ka Roger" Rosal said that these tactical offensives reflect the people's determinatin to put an end to the Arroyo regime.
