ANAKPAWIS Party-list Representative Crispin Beltran was brought to the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital in Camp Crame Thursday due to hypertension, his attending physician said.

Beltran was transferred at around 11 a.m. to the hospital from the PNP Custodial Center, where he had been detained on rebellion charges since Saturday, Doctor Alejandro Advincula said.

Advincula said they would closely monitor Beltran's blood pressure and blood sugar level. Aside from hypertension, the lawmaker also suffers from diabetes.

Beltran will stay at the hospital overnight for observation, he said.

"He's okay. Last night, he had a dream that he was being tortured," Beltran's daughter, Olivia Lalusis, told reporters after visiting his father.

Beltran and five other left-wing lawmakers -- Satur Ocampo, Liza Maza, Joel Virador, Teodoro Casiño, and Rafael Mariano, were charged with rebellion for allegedly conspiring with military adventurists and civilians to bring down President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Except for Beltran, the accused lawmakers are under the custody of the House of Representatives and are staying at the Batasan Complex in Quezon City.

Police also filed rebellion charges against rebel soldiers and
opposition leaders, including former senator Gregorio Honasan.
